Lancasters Guest House is conveniently situated just 3 miles from junction 8 of the M11 and 6 miles from Stansted Airport, which is accessible by train, bus or taxi. We are located in the centre of Bishops Stortford and within walking distance of the train station for London and Cambridge. Hockerill European School and Bishops Stortford College are both just a few minutes walk away. The building of Lancaster’s dates back to 1600 with an 18th Century addition, some of the large wooden beams used throughout are thought to be of 12th Century origin. The property started life as a hall house and would have been a large open barn type construction. It has also been a public house called The Castle, and a hairdresser’s which was known as Putticks and Hucklebys.

Now completely renovated the restaurant is open 09:00am – 5:30pm Monday to Saturday with the accommodation located above on the first floor. The heavily beamed rooms, some with inglenook fireplaces have colour televisions, fridges, tea and coffee making facilities, radio alarm clocks and hairdryers.
